CPI Historic Highlights

Over the years CPI has grown significantly. Here are a few of our major milestones.

1981

  • J & J Commercial Properties founded as a property management company
  • Company starts off with 600 SF of office space at 1220 W. Alameda

1982

  • CPI begins taking on brokerage sales and leasing for properties beyond the management portfolio

1984

  • Cal Johnson, who is still with CPI joins as a Sales and Leasing Agent
  • Agents are required to share desk space with each agent having access to a desk for only a 4 hour period per day

1985

  • CPI relocates to Demerio Corporate Square; the Agents get used to having a full fledged office space

1986

  • Leroy Breinholt, President and Designated Broker, joins CPI as a Sales and Leasing Agent
  • First dedicated market research person hired to support 6 agents

1988

  • CPI relocates to1705 W University Drive

Early 90's

  • Leroy Breinholt purchases his initial stake in CPI

Late 90's

  • Leroy Breinholt purchases all remaining ownership interest in CPI

1992

  • CPI hires its first dedicated leasing support person
  • Kelly Hisle, CPI's current receptionist, joins the firm

1993

  • CPI relocates into 2,800 SF located at 1625 W University Drive

1994

  • Carla Kurtz, CPI's Property Management Accountant, joins the firm

2001

  • Purchased 1333 W Broadway Road (6,000 SF for CPI's new office)

2002

  • CPI conducts its first annual Turkey Trot event in November

2003

  • Leroy Breinholt named as an Industrial Leasing Power Broker by Costar

2004

  • CPI selected to be the exclusive Arizona affiliate for CORFAC International
  • Leroy Breinholt named as an Industrial Leasing Power Broker by Costar and a Top Dealmaker in Phoenix

2005

  • Leroy Breinholt and Cal Johnson named as Industrial Leasing Power Brokers by Costar

2006

  • Moved into new 9,000 SF office on University Drive
  • Leroy Breinholt and Cal Johnson named as Industrial Leasing Power Brokers by Costar

2007

  • Broke into top ten on Phoenix Business Journal's prestigious Book of Lists for Commercial Real Estate Brokers (Ranked #8 based on licensed agents)
  • Leroy Breinholt named as an Industrial Leasing Power Broker by Costar

2008

  • Largest transaction in CPI history ($23 million dollar sale of Lincoln Meadows Business Park)
  • CPI designated as a Top Leasing Firm by Costar for the seventh year in a row
  • Leroy Breinholt, Cal Johnson, and Darin Edwards named as Industrial Leasing Power Brokers by Costar
  • Tyson Breinholt named as an Office Leasing Power Broker by Costar

2009

  • CPI brings on 8 new agents over the summer months
  • CPI Acquires EBS & Associates in October

Jan. 2010

  • Andy Jaffe, SIOR represents SunTech Power Holdings as they open a 120,000 SF solar pannel assembly plant in Goodyear.

May 2010

  • CPI designated as a Top Leasing Firm by Costar for the eigth year in a row
  • Leroy Breinholt, Cal Johnson, and Eric Jones named as Industrial Leasing Power Brokers by Costar

Commercial Properties Inc. (CPI) began business in 1981 as a commercial property management company for the Valley’s industrial properties.

Since its inception, CPI has grown into a full-service brokerage and property management firm for all product types.  Currently CPI’s listings include more than 16.6 million available square feet for sale or lease and almost 3 million square feet under management.

CPI’s pride in and dedication to providing its clients with the highest level of service stems from President and Designated Broker, Leroy Breinholt.  With more than two decades of experience in the commercial brokerage industry, Leroy’s contagious devotion to customer service and impeccable ethics set the standard for the CPI team.  CPI’s agents, property management group and support staff together follow his lead to maintain an organization full of positivity, energy, and hard work.
